Special promotional event
("TOKYO INTERNATIONAL CUSTOM CAR CONTEST 2004"
is a part of T.A.S. promotional program performed during the
Auto Salon) All the vehicles, exception of some race cars and
vehicles awarded prizes in previous years, displayed at the
"TOKYO AUTO SALON w/ NAPAC 2004" are eligible to enter
the contest. Any vehicle not participating would be considered
as display only, not eligible for the awards.
The contest categories (Category selection)
Contest vehicles are categorized by the purpose of modifications,
not by the models of vehicles. Selection and determination of
the categories of contest should be based on the category of
display vehicle registration. If the category of display registration
and the category of contest entry are not closely matched, the
contest committee will re-assign the applicant's contest category.

Concept Car Category
(Unlimited modifications)
Any vehicle with performance, appearance, or usage modifications,
including completely newly built vehicles that proposes a new
concept. That does not have to be street legal.
Tuned/High performance Category
(Street Legal Vehicles and requires road test evaluation)
Any vehicle modified/upgraded its power/drive train performance
is eligible to enter this category of contest. All of the entry
vehicles must be road tested by appointed test drivers from
the committee for the judgement. (See details of judgement standard)
Sports Car Category
(Street Legal Vehicles)
Any vehicle, regardless of the power train or the suspension
upgrades, modified/upgraded its sporty appearance is eligible
for the entry. The judgment is based on the vehicle's sporty
appearance.
Sedan Category
(Street Legal Vehicles)
Sedan is a vehicle featuring interior/exterior enhancements
for driver and passengers. The definition of sedan here is a
vehicle designed to give driver and passengers a great "automobile
and transportation" value. Judges will look for quality
improvements made to satisfy the purpose of sedans: efficient
and functional devices to integrate the new-age transporter.
Mini Van Category
(Street Legal Vehicles)
All the eligible entry Mini Vans shall have an improved performance
to satisfy the original idea and the purpose of Min Vans. The
judgement is based on the quality of improvements made to the
utility spaces, interior and/or exterior
Station Wagon Category
(Street Legal Vehicles)
Station wagon is a vehicle specifically modified/improved in
the area of interior/exterior functionalities to satisfy the
values of station wagons. Judges will look for quality improvements
made the station wagon more versatile, efficient and functional
from original purpose of design.
SUV Category
(Street Legal Vehicles)
Eligible entry of performance SUV should be a vehicle modified/improved
in the area of interior/exterior functionalities to satisfy
the values of Sport Utility Vehicles. Judges will look for quality
improvements made the SUV more agile from functional upgrades.
Compact vehicle Category
(Street Legal Vehicles)
Compact is a vehicle specifically modified/improved in the area
of interior/exterior functionalities to satisfy the values of
compact cars. Judges will look for quality improvements made
the Compact Car more versatile, efficient and functional from
original purpose of design.
Registrations for the contest
1. Entry for the contest will automatically be processed
after the show management receives an information of display
vehicle in the registration package by the deadline date. (Registration
package will be sent to you after the show management receives
the "applications for booth rental agreement".)
2. Please attach photo or sketch of the intended show
display vehicle to the specifications section of the registration
form and submit it before the deadline date (The photo does
not have to show the finished vehicle).
3. Entrants applying to the Tuned/High performance category
will be notified for the details of the December 2003 road test.
Judgments
The final judgment for the contest will be performed on the
9th of January, after the Auto Salon event closes, by the committee-appointed
judges. Vehicles entered for the Tuned/High performance category
will be judged based on the road test result conducted in December
2003 by an appointed test drivers from the committee. Details
of the December road test event will be provided to each entrant
prior to the test day.
Awards
One "Grand prix" and " two "Award of excellence"
prizes will be awarded for each category.
Grand Prix Award (A trophy for the first place vehicle)
Award of Excellence (Plates for two award vehicles)
1. All the awards will be announced and prizes are given
at award ceremony held on 10th (Saturday) at the main stage.
The winners also will be announced in affiliate sponsors &
supporting organizations publications.
2. The contest committee will provide a sign board to
each winner that helps attendees spot each award-winning vehicle
at the show. Also the winner vehicles and exhibitors names will
be posted on a billboard located at the show premise.
3. All the award-winning vehicles will be introduced
through affiliate sponsors & supporting organizations publications
and the TOKYO AUTO SALON official web site.
4. All the award winning vehicles will be introduced
on major affiliate magazines and affiliate sponsors publications
issued January 2004 or following months.

Tokyo International Custom Car Contest 2004
<Voting for the Custom Car Grand Prix vehicle>
One Custom Car Grand Prix 2004 vehicle will be selected among
8 categories, total of 24 cars. The Grand Prix prize will be
awarded for a vehicle received highest number of votes among
24 cars. Details of all the 24 cars will be listed on Tokyo
Auto Salon official web site and all that visit the site can
vote to select a champion on the web site.
